There are four main categories of problems in a house: Comfort, Health & Safety, High Utility bills and Environmental Impact. Comfort issues include drafts, rooms that are either too hot or too cold relative to the rest of the house, noise that comes in from outside or adjacent rooms, just to name a few. Examples of health issues are symptoms that appear during the winter months and seem to last longer than they should or are chronic like headaches, flu-like symptoms and irritability. These can be caused by carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. Gas leaks can also be a very dangerous safety hazard. Indoor air quality is important for allergy or asthma sufferers. Especially if you have children and live in New York City. High utility bills can put a serious dent in your budget. Studies have shown that with simple and effective air-sealing and insulation procedures you can save up to 25-30% on your heating bills (and more if your house is especially old and leaky). If heating system upgrades are performed that number can rise to 40% or more. Of course, your savings will depend on where the starting point is.

In this section we cover some examples of those problems. To see how we can solve these problems go to the Solutions page.
